It was considered a luxury if a HMoob family could afford a large boom box in the 1990’s to early 2000’s. Boomboxes were used as instruments for entertainment, courtship and were considered a form of wealth.

I bought it new...I still have some CD songs so when the timing is right or if I’m feeling nostalgic, I still use it to listen. I bought it brand new and it has never broken on me, so I still cherish it.” -Sandy Lee

VHS are physical documentions of HMoob values, cultural norms and entertainment. Some VHS are original movies created by HMoob people while some movies of different cultural origins, like Mandarin Chinese, Thai, Hindi, etc, are dubbed in HMoob.
